Your official record of what you earned
Every time you get paid, there is a story behind the number that lands in your bank account. A payslip tells that story, breaking down exactly how your salary was calculated, what was deducted, and what your employer contributed on your behalf.
What is a Payslip?
A payslip (also called a pay stub or salary slip) is an official document that details your earnings and deductions for a specific pay period. It shows how your gross salary becomes the net pay you actually receive.
In Officaid, payslips are generated automatically when your company processes payroll. You can access all your payslips through the Me module.
What a Payslip Contains
A typical payslip includes:
- Employee Details such as your name, employee code, and department.
- Pay Period showing the start and end dates the payslip covers.
- Earnings including basic salary, allowances, overtime, and bonuses.
- Deductions for statutory contributions, insurance, loans, and other withholdings.
- Employer Contributions that your company pays on your behalf.
- Net Pay which is the final amount deposited to your account.
Why Your Payslip Matters
Your payslip is more than just a receipt. It serves several important purposes:
- Proof of Income when applying for loans, credit cards, or rental agreements.
- Tax Records for filing your annual tax returns.
- Verification that your salary, allowances, and deductions are correct.
- Financial Planning to understand your earnings and track changes over time.
- Dispute Resolution if there are questions about your pay.
Understanding the Numbers
The key calculation on every payslip is:
Gross Pay (total earnings) − Deductions (employee contributions and withholdings) = Net Pay (what you receive)
Your employer also makes additional contributions on top of your salary. These do not reduce your pay but are shown on the payslip for transparency.
