Using Task Comments

Collaborate on tasks through comments and reactions in Officaid.

Keep the Conversation Where the Work Happens

Email threads get lost. Chat messages scroll away. When discussions about a task happen outside the task itself, context scatters. Officaid's task comments keep all conversation attached to the work, creating a single source of truth that anyone can reference.

Adding a Comment

To add a comment to a task:

  1. 1 Open the task by clicking on it in the task list
  2. 2 Scroll down to the Comments section
  3. 3 Type your message in the "Add comment..." text box
  4. 4 Click Send to post your comment

Your comment appears immediately below the text box, along with your name and timestamp.

What to Include in Comments

Comments are useful for:

  • Updates sharing progress on the task
  • Questions asking for clarification or input
  • Context adding information that might help the assignee
  • Blockers noting issues preventing progress
  • Handoff notes providing information when reassigning

Think of comments as a running journal of the task's progress. Future readers should be able to understand what happened by reading through the comments.

Using Reactions

Sometimes a full comment isn't needed. Reactions let you respond quickly to comments with a single click.

To add a reaction:

  1. 1 Find the comment you want to react to
  2. 2 Click the reaction icon next to the comment
  3. 3 Choose from the available reactions

Available reactions include:

  • Like and Dislike for agreement or disagreement
  • Love and Happy for positive sentiment
  • Celebrate for achievements
  • Agree and Disagree for opinions
  • Question to indicate confusion or need for clarification
  • Star and Excellent for recognition
  • Quick for fast turnaround
  • Hot for urgent or important items

Reactions appear below the comment with counts showing how many people used each one.

Use the "Agree" reaction in place of comments like "Yes" or "Sounds good." It keeps the thread cleaner while still acknowledging the message.

Comment Visibility

All comments are visible to anyone with access to the Tasks module. There's no way to make comments private or visible only to certain people.

Keep this in mind when posting sensitive information. If something should only be seen by specific people, communicate through other channels.

Comments in the Activity Log

Every comment and reaction is recorded in the Task Activity log. This creates an audit trail of who said what and when, useful for understanding the full history of a task.
